WASHINGTON – Since its founding in 2019, employee-led Maverick Cares has hosted quarterly charitable events at Maverick Gaming properties statewide and engaged in local community partnerships in support of local families. In celebration of the beginning of summer, Maverick Cares is hosting its annual “School’s Out” event this year providing Summer Packs to kids who may experience food insecurity during the summer months. Summer Packs also include tickets for local activities so that more kids have the chance to experience a great summer break.

“Every kid looks forward to summer, but we shouldn’t take for granted that all kids get the same summer vacation,” said Maverick Gaming CEO and co-founder, Eric Persson. “Growing up in Hoquiam, people lived modestly and it is super meaningful to me to see our Maverick team donate their time and efforts in conjunction with our local communities to make sure every kid can have a little fun this summer.”

“As we get ready for summer, it can be easy to forget that not every kid has the same access to having a great time while they are out of school,” said Senator Marko Liias. “I’m grateful that our state has such a rich tradition of community partnership of coming together to help families and kids who need it most. Whether it be the team at Maverick Cares, the Bellevue Chamber of Commerce or the local kids gym, we all have a part to play and I’m proud to help support this event.”

“Our communities are only as strong as the partnerships that we build between residents, businesses, schools, and service organizations,” said Bellevue Chamber of Commerce CEO Joe Fain. “We are proud to help host this year’s School’s Out event with Maverick Cares and applaud all of the event’s partners for contributing to make summer break more fun for all.”

Maverick Cares is an employee-led project of the team at Maverick Gaming to build a community of partnership everywhere where Maverick Gaming operates. In 2021, Maverick Cares distributed holiday meal kits in December, Thanksgiving meal kits to families in need in November, 8,000 backpacks filled with schools supplies in August and meal kits and educational field trip vouchers for local K-12 students in March. School’s Out 2022 is made possible by partnerships with Harts Services, WhatsSup Stand Up Paddle & Kayak, The Jungle Gym, Straberry Lanes, High Trek Mini Golf & Laser Tag, Cougar Mountain Zoo, Pump it Up Kirkland, Go Bowl Pasco, Max Air Trampoline Park, Lynwood Bowl and Skate, SyKart Indoor Racing Center, Yakima Family Fun Center, Waterland Arcade, Museum of Flight, MoPop, Point Defiance Zoo, Northwest Trek, Blue Mouse Theater and Tower Lanes Bowling.

Ticket giveaways for local experiences will depend on the pick-up location and include: Tacoma Rainiers tickets, mini-golf or bowling games, laser tag vouchers, zoo passes, arcade money, flight museum passes, and movie theater tickets.

Maverick Cares also thanks the local elected leaders who are volunteering their time to help hand out donations: Senator John Lovick, Senator Monika Dhingra, Representative Brad Klippert, Representative David Hackney, Tukwila Mayor Allan Ekberg, as well as Tukwila Councilmember Kate Kruller, Yakima Councilmembers Patricia Byers, and Holly Cousens.
