“Even during the ongoing pandemic, the end of a year should be a time for reflection and celebration,” said Maverick CEO and co-founder Eric Persson. “That’s why our team is working hard to make the holidays a little easier for families in need across local communities in our state. I thank all of our partners for helping with not just this event, but every effort that we have been proud to host in 2021.”

This is the fourth Maverick Cares event in 2021. In November, the employee-led effort worked with local partners to distribute Thanksgiving meal kits to local families in need. In August, Maverick Cares and its partners provided 8,000 backpacks filled with school supplies and in March, the organization partnered with business and non-profits to distribute meal kits and educational field trip vouchers to 16,000 local K-12 students.

All Maverick Cares events are held in accordance with public health requirements to uphold safety during the pandemic. Members of the media are welcome to attend the event.

Additional charitable efforts by Maverick Cares since its inception in 2019 include an employee-driven donation to Toys for Tots during the 2019 holiday season and over 61,000 free meals for the 4th of July, Thanksgiving, and the December holidays in 2020.

Maverick Gaming currently employs more than 2,000 team members in Washington State and intends to invest $500 million in licensed card rooms and planned entertainment developments across the state.

At the core of Maverick Gaming’s Responsible Gambling approach is its ‘self-exclusion’ policy, which gives self-identified problem gamblers opportunity to avoid risking their wallets and their well-being. Washington passed a law requiring the State Gambling Commission to finalize a self-exclusion system this year, but Maverick Gaming implemented centralized self-exclusion statewide long before it was required, restricting access to problem gamblers in all its card rooms.
