Throughout March, Virtual Events Across the Country Support Prevention, Recovery and Treatment for People Negatively Affected by Gambling

KIRKLAND, WA – Maverick Gaming recommitted its support for professionals in the education, outreach, treatment and recovery of people who struggle with problem gambling. Since 2019, Maverick Gaming has partnered with The Evergreen Council on Problem Gambling, a leading organization dedicated to education, prevention, treatment, recovery, and front-line responsible gambling training in gaming environments.

Maverick Gaming’s commitment is year-round for reducing problem gambling – in 2020, the company contributed $194,381 to the Evergreen Council on Problem Gambling. In announcing the contribution, Maureen Greeley, executive director of the Evergreen Council on Problem Gambling, said that “the Evergreen Council on Problem Gambling applauds Maverick Gaming for their steadfast partnership in supporting responsible gambling practices and policies. As the leading organization dedicated to education, prevention, treatment, recovery and front-line responsible gambling training in gaming environments, we cannot be successful without our great partners in Washington’s gaming industry. We look forward to continued collaboration with Maverick Gaming well into the future.”

“Maverick Gaming applauds the work of the recovery community, health care providers and organizations, government agencies, elected leaders and gambling companies to raise public awareness and share information to help identify, address, and prevent problem gambling, “ said Eric Persson, Co-Founder and CEO of Maverick Gaming. “We want our guests to have fun responsibly. For those who cannot enjoy themselves without hurting themselves or their families, we don’t want them here and support organizations who can respectfully identify their challenge and get them on a path to recovery.”

A fundamental piece of Maverick Gaming’s commitment to being a good neighbor and member of the community where it operates is in creating a safe, fun environment. An industry leader in responsible gaming,  all Maverick facilities in Washington are integrated in a centralized self-exclusion system that prohibits self-identified problem gamblers from risking their wallets and their well-being. In Washington, Maverick Gaming is currently advocating for a statewide self-exclusion program across commercial card rooms and Tribal properties.

Information and resources for the prevention, treatment and recovery from problem gambling can be found at the National Council of Problem Gambling and a confidential 24-hour helpline can be accessed for phone or text at 1-800-522-4700, or for chat at ncpgambling.org/chat.
